A unique culture of sharing dreams formed among Guantanamo prisoners. Like a game of telephone, dreams would be called out across the camp and passed from prisoner to prisoner, then interpreted and relayed back in the same manner. Nature of Dreaming is a film in development that explores the 'war on terror' and the Cuban embargo through one of the most elusive states: dreams.
Synopsis
Nature of Dreaming is a film about two places; the Guantanamo Naval Base and the surrounding province of Guantanamo, Cuba. It explores the two main confrontations in the area. One, between prisoners and prison guards, the other, between the U.S. military and Cuba.

The foundation for the project is based on interviews being conducted with former military personnel and former prisoners from the Guantanamo Naval Base. The goal is to collect dreams from individuals on both sides. Like the subject of dreams, the format of the film is unconventional - The collected interviews will be re-staged and performed by Cubans from the neighbouring towns and countryside. Thus, the final film combines interviews and experts insights and transfers them in a highly performative manner within the context of Cuba.
